Barari Election Result 2025: JD(U)’s Bijay Singh Defeats Congress’s Tauquir Alam

The Barari Assembly constituency in Katihar district has delivered a decisive verdict in favour of JD(U)’s Bijay Singh, who has clinched victory with a margin of 10,984 votes over INC candidate Tauquir Alam. The contest, which initially appeared competitive, soon turned one-sided as Bijay Singh built and maintained a commanding lead through all rounds.

AIMIM’s Md. Matiur Rahman finished a distant third with 5,846 votes, highlighting the dominance of the two main contenders. AAP, BSP, and other independents did not feature prominently in the final standings.

Barari — known for its shifting political landscape and geographical significance along the Kosi River — once again saw JD(U) consolidate its influence. The constituency comprises Barari, Sameli, and Kursela blocks, falling under the Katihar Lok Sabha seat.

Over the years, Barari has elected leaders from Congress, CPI, Janata Party, RJD, JD(U), BJP, and Independents, making it one of Katihar’s most diverse political theatres. But in 2025, the voters delivered a clear and emphatic mandate in favour of JD(U).
