Barari Election Result Live: JD(U)’s Bijay Singh Racing Ahead With Massive Lead Over Congress

The Barari Assembly constituency in Katihar district is witnessing a one-sided contest as counting continues. Bijay Singh of the Janata Dal United has established a massive and comfortable lead, securing 49575 votes, placing him far ahead of his rivals by an extraordinary margin of 34066 votes.

Indian National Congress candidate Tauquir Alam is trailing in a distant second position with 15509 votes, unable to narrow the gap as counting progresses.  AAP and BSP do not appear prominently in the current leading positions in Barari, making the battle mainly between JD(U) and Congress in this round.

In third place, Shivpujan Paswan, an Independent candidate, has received 2321 votes, trailing by 47254 votes, indicating a clear lack of competitiveness in the ongoing race.

Barari, located on the banks of the Kosi River, is known for its dynamic political shifts and significant geographical importance. The nearest railway station is Karhagola Road, and the historic Laxmipur Gurudwara adds cultural depth to the region.

As per the 2008 Delimitation Order, the Barari constituency consists of the Barari, Sameli, and Kursela community development blocks. It also forms part of the Katihar Lok Sabha constituency.

Over the decades, Barari has seen representation from the Indian National Congress, Janata Party, CPI, JD(U), RJD, BJP, and Independents, making it one of Katihar’s more diverse electoral battlegrounds. However, the 2025 contest is increasingly consolidating around JD(U)’s dominant performance.
