As the counting of votes begins for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections, all eyes are also on the Sikti constituency, where early trends are awaited with heightened anticipation.

The battle here prominently features candidates from the major political parties — BJP, AAP, BSP  — each hoping to secure a breakthrough in this key seat. Sikti went to the polls on November 11, 2025, during Phase 2, and the final outcome will determine whether the BJP continues its stronghold or whether a new player emerges this time.

Leading the contest is Vijay Kumar Mandal of the BJP, who is seeking to defend the seat he won in both 2015 and 2020. The constituency also sees participation from AAP’s Dinesh Kumar Arya, BSP’s Bhola Prasad Singh, all of whom have fielded candidates aiming to challenge the BJP’s dominance.

Among the other contenders is Md. Raghib from the Jan Suraaj Party, along with nominees from the Vikassheel Insaan Party, the Peace Party, and independents, but the primary spotlight remains firmly on the major national and regional players.

Sikti has a clear electoral pattern rooted in recent history. In the 2020 Assembly Election, BJP’s Vijay Kumar Mandal won by a margin of 13,610 votes, defeating RJD’s Shatrughan Prasad Suman, who secured 70,518 votes.

The seat had also swung in favour of the BJP in 2010 under Anandi Prasad Yadav, making the constituency a significant test of the party’s continued influence. This consistent track record places added focus on whether the BJP can secure another term in Sikti.

Bihar recorded a 57.3% voter turnout this year, slightly higher than in 2020. With political alliances — the NDA on one side and the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan on the other — exuding confidence about sweeping the state, the results from constituencies like Sikti will play a critical role in shaping the larger electoral picture.
