Thakurganj Election Result 2025: JD(U)’s Gopal Kumar Agarwal Defeats AIMIM’s Ghulam Hasnain

The Thakurganj Assembly constituency has declared its final verdict, and JD(U) candidate Gopal Kumar Agarwal has secured a decisive victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections.

Contesting as part of the NDA alliance, Agarwal clinched 85,243 votes, finishing 8,822 votes ahead of his closest rival, AIMIM’s Ghulam Hasnain, who received 76,421 votes.

RJD’s Saud Alam finished third with 60,036 votes, while Jan Suraaj Party’s Md. Ekramul Haque secured 6,806 votes, trailing significantly behind the top contenders.

The constituency had initially witnessed a competitive triangular fight, with early trends showing a narrowing gap between JD(U) and AIMIM. However, as counting progressed, Gopal Kumar Agarwal maintained a consistent and widening lead, ultimately converting the early advantage into a solid win.

Thakurganj, a politically sensitive seat in the Seemanchal region, has been closely watched this election cycle due to the multi-party contest involving JD(U), AIMIM, RJD, BJP, and emerging regional parties. Analysts note that JD(U)’s strong grassroots presence and NDA’s organisational strength played a pivotal role in securing this win.

The result reinforces JD(U)’s growing influence in Seemanchal, while AIMIM’s attempt to regain momentum after previous setbacks fell short despite a spirited campaign.
