Indian Student In Russia Found Dead Near Dam 19 Days After Going Missing

A 22-year-old Indian student in Russia, who went out to buy milk went missing around two weeks ago, was found dead in a dam on Thursday, November, 7. The victim’s body was recovered from the dam, and his clothes, mobile phone and shoes were earlier found near the dam adjacent to the White River.

The man, Ajit Singh Chaudhary, is a resident of Kaphanwada village in Lakshmangarh in Rajasthan’s Alwar. In 2023, he joined Bashkir State Medical University for an MBBS course, NDTV reported, citing sources.

According to Chaudhary’s friends, he left his hostel at around 11am, saying he was going to buy milk, but did not come back. The Indian embassy in Russia has not made any official comment regarding the incident so far.

Former Union Minister Jitendra Singh Alwar alleged that some “untoward incident occurred with the boy in suspicious circumstances” while pointing out the recovery of some of his belongings from the riverbank.

All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) has written to India’s foreign minister S Jaishankar and the ruling BJP seeking repatriation of Ajit Chaudhary’s body.
