UGC NET Date Extended; Details Here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the last date for the application submission of the UGC NET exam. According to the latest update, the online application forms for the University Grants Commission (UGC)-National Eligibility Test (NET) can now be filled till May 15. Earlier, Friday, May 10th was the last date for the forms submission.

The NTA conducts the UGC NET examination from the mandate from the education ministry for the last couple of years as an eligibility test for PhD admission and also for the JRF grants for pursuing research in social sciences and arts subjects.

The UGC NET exam will be held in June.

The exam will have two papers- paper 1 based on research methodology and paper 2 based on subject-specific questions. The total exam duration will be 180 minutes (3 hours) with no breaks in between the papers.

According to an update, with UGC-NET June 2024 session, the candidates who are pursuing Four Year or 8 Semester Bachelor’s Degree Programme and are in their last semester or year may also apply for the UGC-NET.

“The candidates with a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Programme are allowed to appear in a subject in which they want to pursue a Ph.D. irrespective of the discipline in which they have obtained the four-year bachelor’s degree,” UGC chairperson Mamidala Jadadesh Kumar said.
