Bijwasan Election Results: BJP’s Kailash Gahlot Leads
Delhi election results: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Kailash Gahlot is leading in the Bijwasan assembly constituency with a margin of 3025 votes as per the updates published by the Election Commission of India on its official website. As per the latest lead reports from various media houses, BJP is leading in over 40 seats out of the total 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly.
Kailash Gahlot, a former AAP minister and then a senior leader of the Kejriwal’s party, shifted to BJP recently alleging his boss and party of corruption and cheating people of Delhi.
In Bijwasan, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Surender Bhardwaj and Indian National Congress’ Col Devinder Kumar Sehrawat are in second and third places respectively as per the early leads.
Bijwasan has seen the constituency shifting its political allegiance since its formation in 2008 with BJP and AAP. In 2008 and 2013, Sat Prakash Rana of Bharatiya Janata Party won from the constituency. Later, in 2015 and 2020, Devinder Sehrawat and Bhupinder Singh Joon of AAP respectively won from the constituency.
The results for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections will be announced on Saturday, February 8, determining whether the AAP can secure a fourth consecutive term or if the BJP will reclaim power after 27 years. The Congress, once dominant in Delhi politics, is also attempting a comeback but is expected to remain a minor player.
The counting of votes commenced at 7 am, with initial trends emerging by 8 am. The final results are expected by 6 pm, with real-time updates available on the Election Commission’s official websites.
A victory for AAP would reaffirm Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership and solidify the party’s national ambitions. A loss, however, could weaken its influence beyond Delhi, particularly in Punjab and Gujarat.
