Can't Force Govt To Permit Worship In Delhi's Race Course Masjid: Delhi HC
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday, October 29, said that it cannot force the Union Government to permit worshipers to offer prayer at the Race Course Masjid near the Prime Minister’s residence.
After a notice asking to remove the structure calling it illegal, the Mosque authorities had approached the court. During an earlier hearing, the Central Government Standing Counsel (CGSC) Ashish Dixit told the court that the mosque will not be demolished, adding that access cannot be allowed since demolition activity is ongoing on in the area.

The court today cited the same reason that since demolition activity is going in the nearby area, it cannot force the government to allow devotees pray in the Mosque.
Justice Anish Dayal made the remark after noting the government’s submission that it will not demolish the mosque till it decides the Delhi Waqf Board’s representation to protect the monument.
