The last rites of former prime minister Manmohan Singh are being held at Delhi’s Nigambodh Ghat crematorium as the nation mourns the demise of an economist politician who transformed the country’s economy. The mortal remains of the former Prime Minister were taken to Nigam Bodh Ghat in a flower-bedecked vehicle, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi joined the convoy.

The final rites of Dr Singh have been conducted with full state honours, and mortal remain has been laid to rest at the Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi. His daughter lighted his funeral pyre and Sikh priests and family members of former PM Manmohan Singh recited verses from Gurbani before the last rites.

Manmohan Singh died at 92 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday night.
