New Delhi Railway Station Tragedy: Authorities Release List Of 18 Victims

A massive stampede broke out at the New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday night, claiming the lives of 18 innocent people and leaving many others injured.

The tragedy occurred when hundreds of passengers were eagerly waiting to board trains to Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj for the ongoing Maha Kumbh festival.

As the crowd surged forward, a few people lost their balance and fell, triggering a chain reaction that resulted in the devastating stampede. The victims, mostly women and children, were caught off guard and trampled in the chaos. According to the authorities, the victims included nine individuals from Bihar, eight from Delhi, and one from Haryana.

  •  Lalita Devi, 35, wife of Santosh, resident of Parana, Bihar
  • Poonam Devi, 40, wife of Meghnath, resident of Saran, Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt condolences on social media, grieving the loss of lives in the tragic New Delhi railway station stampede,

He wrote: “Distressed by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured have a speedy recovery. The authorities are assisting all those who have been affected by this stampede.”

The government has announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh for the families of the deceased, ₹2.5 lakh for those severely injured, and ₹1 lakh for minor injuries.
