Home Minister Amit Shah has also assured full support from the Centre. The National Security Guard (NSG) commandos have taken control of the Sangam area to prevent further chaos.
The Akharas have cancelled the Shahi Snan due to the stampede, and devotees are being advised to take the holy dip at the ghat nearest to them that Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya Ji made an urgent appeal to devotees attending the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday, advising them to prioritise their safety amid massive crowds.
In a self-made video, he said, “Due to the large crowd gathered in Prayagraj today, please do not insist on taking a holy dip only at the Sangam Ghat. For now, stay within your camps and ensure your safety. This appeal comes after reports of injuries and chaos due to the massive turnout of 80-100 million people for the ‘Amrit Snan’ marking ‘Mauni Amavasya’.”
