Students En Route To Delhi's Jantar Mantar For Protest Against ECE Detained Aboard Goa Express
New Delhi: On Friday, October 9, local police detained many students onboard Goa Express at Itarsi in Madhya Pradesh. The incidents comes hours after the Indian Railway announced the cancellation of select long-distance passenger trains traveling toward New Delhi, Nizamuddin and Old Delhi railway stations.
The students were travelling to Delhi to participate in the protests demanding resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), allied opposition groups and student organisations are attempting to converge on central Delhi’s Jantar Mantar in protest against the election commission.
These stoppages will start from morning 4 am and will counter till 2.00 pm in the afternoon, In addition, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued guidance warning that several central interchange nodes—including Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, and Rajiv Chowk may see operational closures and restricted exit gates.
