Suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir Set To Lay ‘Babri Masjid’ Foundation In Murshidabad
Suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir is set to lay the foundation stone of a Babri Masjid structure in Beldanga on Saturday, an event that has triggered heightened administrative attention and large-scale security deployment in the district.
According to ANI, a heavy police presence was seen around the Beldanga Police Station and nearby areas early Saturday morning to ensure law and order is maintained ahead of the ceremony.
Local police, state police, and additional forces have been stationed to prevent any untoward incident.
Kabir left his residence in Murshidabad under tight security.

Speaking briefly to the media, he said he was satisfied with the arrangements. “I will lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid today. Police are supporting me. I have already spoken with them… Following the Calcutta High Court order yesterday, the Police are supporting me,” he told ANI.
On Thursday, the TMC suspended Humayun Kabir over his statement that he would inaugurate a Babri Masjid in Murshidabad on December 6.
On Friday, the Calcutta High Court issued directions related to the situation in Murshidabad. Following the order, state and district authorities increased deployment in the Beldanga area.
Kabir said that the administration had fully cooperated with the organisers. “All is well. Wait until 12 noon; the reading of the Quran will begin then. After that, the foundation stone will be laid… Murshidabad Police and State Police are all supporting me. I thank them,” he told ANI.
Visuals from the area on Saturday morning showed local residents preparing for the ceremony. One resident, Md Safiqul Islam of Uttar Barasat, was seen carrying bricks for the proposed structure.

“I will go where Humayun Kabir will lay the foundation stone for Babri Masjid. I am carrying bricks for Babri Masjid,” he told ANI.
Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court on Friday refused to intervene in the plea seeking a stay on Kabir’s event on December 6. The division bench left the responsibility of maintaining peace to the state.
The state government informed the court that adequate forces had already been deployed. The Centre told the court that 19 companies of central forces were also stationed in the region.
