Reportedly, the government conducted a probe against around 20 bureaucrats for submitting fake income and disability certificates to avail of reservation in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE). While the probe has cleared most of the names, one officer is still under investigation.

As per A.P. Das Joshi, Additional Secretary of DoPT, after the social media complaints a thorough inquiry was conducted, and in most cases nothing specific was found. “There is only one case that is under investigation.

The income, caste, and physical disability documents submitted by around 40 of 1,009 candidates who cleared the CSE 2024 are also being investigated, as per the reports. Results of the 2024 examination cycle were announced in April.

Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Personnel and Grievances, said at a press conference that investigations were held whenever a complaint was received, but the issue was too big to be left to the Ministry alone. It takes cooperation from the larger society as it involves a socio-cultural genesis, on aspirants who submit fraudulent certificates to avail reservation in EWS and PwBD categories.
