ED Summons Actor Jayaram, Likely To Be Questioned In Sabarimala Gold Theft Scam

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reportedly summoned Malayalam actor Jayaram next week as part of its ongoing investigation into the Sabarimala gold theft scam.

The development comes few days after the central probe agency questioned former Sabarimala administrative officer Murari Babu and another former official, S Sreekumar. Officials are reportedly tracking the alleged money trail linked to the case. The actor was earlier questioned by the special investigation team in connection with the incident.

The officials summoned the actor allegedly to seek clarity in his connection with Unnikrishnan Potti, prime accused in the gold theft case. The officers had taken note of a video showing Potti conducting a puja at Jayaram’s residence using gold-clad artefacts associated with the Sabarimala shrine.

The ED is now investigating whether the accused persons made illegal monetary gains through the diversion and misuse of gold-linked rituals connected to the shrine. It will also examine whether Unnikrishnan Potti and others derived financial benefits by conducting such pujas at private residences, including the actor’s house.
