Since the 2024 Hurun India list highlights a surge in self-made wealth, Adani the topper has marked a significant 8 times growth from 2020 to 2024. As per the list, Gautam Adani eclipsed Mukesh Ambani as his wealth soared by 95% this year surpassing Mukesh Ambani’s net worth which had grown by 25% to Rs 10.15 lakh crore.

Here are the top 5 richest in India as per the Hurun list :

  • Gautam Adani- 11, 61,800 crore -Adani group (95% change)
  • Mukesh Ambani- 10,14,700 crore- Reliance Industries (25% change)
  • Shiv Nadar- 3,14,000 crore- HCL (37% change)
  • Cyrus S Poonawalla- 2,89,800 crore- Serum Institute of India (4% change)
  • Dilip Shanghvi – 2,49,400 crore- Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (52% change)

Billionaire Gautam Adani has experienced a remarkable surge in his net worth, adding a staggering Rs 5,65,503 crore that total counts up to a net worth of Rs 11.6 lakh crore over the last year,  according to the 2024 Hurun India Rich List report released on Thursday that pulled Mukesh Ambani to be at the second place.

Adani has added a ballpark of Rs 10,21,600 crore to his net worth over the last 5 years, despite facing the Hindenburg crisis and marked the highest wealth growth rate among all the top 10 individuals on the list. The rise in share prices of Adani group companies, including Adani Ports having a 98% increase, Adani Energy, Adani Gas, Adani Transmission, and Adani Power with an approximate increase of 76% made him bag the top richest man in the country.

Initially starting as a commodity trading firm, Adani Group has diversified into various sectors including energy, resources, logistics, agribusiness, real estate, financial services, and defence. It is one of India’s largest business conglomerates, playing a significant role in infrastructure development with a strong focus on renewable energy. Adani Group operates the world’s largest solar power plant and the country’s largest private port, Mundra.
