Congress Attacks PM Modi Over Guarantees’ Remarks

Congress leaders on Saturday had hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allegations against Congress making “unreal” and “fake” promises to the Karnataka state’s residents.

The party has launched a multifaceted attack on Modi with Kharge stating that “Modi Ki Guarantee” is merely a “cruel joke” to 1.4 crore Indians. He contended that the ‘B’ in BJP represents ‘betrayal’ and the ‘J’ stands for ‘jumla’ (empty promises). In a post on X, Kharge described Modi’s administration with terms like “Lies, Deceit, Fakery, Loot, and Publicity,” labeling the Prime Minister’s focus on a 100-day action plan as a superficial publicity stunt.

He in his post had also raised concern regarding the promise of “two crore jobs per year” questioning why India’s unemployment rate has reached a 45-year high and why there are stampedes for a limited number of job vacancies.

Criticising PM’s remark, the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah posted on X, “before pointing fingers at Congress, take a hard look at @BJP4Karnataka’s disastrous legacy in Karnataka! We are fulfilling every promise we made to our people – all 5 guarantees implemented with a budget over ₹52,000 crore, and an additional ₹52,903 crore in capital outlay to build Karnataka’s future.”

And he had also alleged that when the state contributes significantly to the Union coffers, the union government starves from their rightful share to prevent them from implementing guarantee schemes. “For every rupee Karnataka gives, we only receive 13 paise back. This is not ‘cooperative federalism’; it’s outright exploitation,” he added.

Karnataka Deputy Chief minister DK Shivakumar slamming PM Modi’s comment said, “Our guarantees are reforming the country. The entire country is looking at our model. There are BJP states which are copying our model. Our guarantees are helping in people’s development. They (BJP) look at politics, we look at development…”

Manish Tewari, Congress MP too had unleashed a scathing attack on BJP by sharing the BJP manifesto of Lok Sabha election entitled Modi ki guarantee. He wrote, “we fulfill what we commit despite centre financially squeezing opposition ruled states”.

Sukhvinder Singh, chief minister of Himachal Pradesh wrote, “The Congress government in Himachal Pradesh is steadfastly dedicated to fulfilling our promises and fostering inclusive development across the state. We are proud to have already delivered on five out of the ten guarantees made during the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections.”
