Several netizens claimed that the 2021 batch officer Jyoti Mishra cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination under a reserved seat by furnishing a fake Scheduled Caste certificate and secured 432 rank.

While speaking to Time of India, who is currently on probation as third secretary Indian embassy based in Madrid, Spain, said she was a general category candidate who has qualified UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 with 432 rank in the second list.

She then clarified that she had been on the waiting list and the other Jyoti, a reserved candidate secured 432 rank but in the first list. “she went on to become an IAS officer. The list which is being circulated on social media bears her name, not mine. However, X users are tagging my pictures and videos with that list. It’s a clear case of mistaken identity,” she said.

Jyoti got lucky to get Indian Foreign Service despite her lower rank after one of the seats in the cadre fell vacant. As of now, she is currently on a two-year probation period as she has to clear the language examination. Once cleared, Jyoti can use the IFS tag with her name.

Jyoti Mishra is the daughter of Suresh Mishra, a sub-inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police.

Posting the clarification on X, she wrote, “I found many misleading information against me and my career So wanted to clear it for once to each and every person who is intentionally or unintentionally targeting me. The post in which a name appears Jyoti to be SC and IAS is not me. She is IAS and she is from Haryana district . I am not IAS. I got IFS cadre and I was in other list. Hopefully now you got an update and will now shut this trend of pinching without knowing the truth. I am not SC and my form was submitted with no EWS or caste certificate. Because I have applied as a general candidate with no reservation. Kindly stop publishing fake information Otherwise I had to take a legal action against this fake news.”.
