Today, US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order initiating the self-deportation of people living illegally in America. Trump mentioned the self-deportation bonus and newly launched application designed especially for the people living in the US without legal authorization.

To facilitate the self-deportation, the US dept of Homeland Security has launched a new application named “CBP Home”, which is a single portal to avail multiple CBP services. The application allows illegal migrants to submit an intent to depart, which, according to the US Customs and Border Patrol, offers them a chance to leave the country without consequences.

Trump messaged undocumented migrants to book their flights for free on the CBP Home application to any place on foreign place other than the US.

Earlier CBP One was launched in 2020, which was expanded during the Biden administration to allow to book appointments to appear at a port of entry. Trump administration has scrapped the CBP One app and also paused the parole programmes along with increase in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

Now, undocumented migrants can identify themselves and declare their intent to leave the country. As per the Homeland Security Secretary, the application allows undocumented migrants to leave the country with the opportunity to return legally.

Application has features asking migrants about ‘enough money to depart the US” and “valid, unexpired pass from your original country of citizenship”.

Users can apply and pay for I-94 entry and exit cards up to 7 days before travel, book inspections for perishable cargo, and check wait times at US border crossings. The registration needs to provide the US government with an address and fingerprints for those above the age of 14.
