The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) recently launched AI Fellowships under the IndiaAI Mission that target BTech and MTech students from the top 50 NIRF-ranked engineering institutes. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their application forms via indiaai.gov.in.
The strategic initiative will help to foster AI education, research, and innovation. According to MeitY, the opportunity will enhance the institution’s contribution to the AI ecosystem and foster a future-ready AI workforce.

IndiaAI Mission was approved by the government on March 7, 2024, to advance the AI leadership of the country. The mission aims to increase India’s global leadership in AI, foster technological self-reliance, and ensure ethical and responsible AI across all strata of society. It will catalyze initiatives like IndiaAI Computer Capacity, IndiaAI Innovation Centre (IAIC), IndiaAI Datasets Platform, IndiaAI Application Development Initiative, IndiaAI FutrueSkills and IndiaAI Startup Financing.
The key initiative IndiaAI FutrueSkills focuses on higher education and coordinating with existing efforts. Under this initiative, 10 students in B.Tech and M.Tech will get fellowships to make a future AI workforce. Through this fellowship, the institution’s participation will be instrumental in advancing AI education and research in India.

The nomination must be submitted with endorsements from the professors of the institutions and must follow the prescribed format.

Eligibility Criteria
- Students who are pursuing full-time B.Tech or completed their 3rd year Or enrolled in full-time M.Tech.
- B.Tech. Students should have completed at least 3 full-time AI-related courses till the last semester for example – Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Data and Data Management Systems, Computer Vision, Neural Networks, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, etc.
- B.Tech. Students should have obtained an overall 80% mark or equivalent grade in the last completed semester. (justification must be provided for students with below 80% of the marks)
- M.Tech. Students should be pursuing postgraduate studies in AI-related courses.
