Nine-Year Old Indian Origin Driver Atiqa Mir Records Double Podium Finish At IAME Summer Cup Round 1

Indian origin, UAE-based racer, Atiqa Mir – fondly known as the fastest Indian girl on four wheels stunned everyone setting up a new Lap record and with a double podium finish at the IAME Summer Series Cup Round 1, held at the RAK Track in UAE.

Nine-year-old Atiqa, fresh from her experience on European tracks, took the RAK track by storm finishing with a commendable third place overall finish in the Mini category and a second-place finish in the Mini R category. Atiqa was competing in a field of 19 drivers and braved the challenging weather conditions of 39 degrees to finish just .20 seconds behind the leader while also setting up a new lap record at the RAK track.

After an impressive qualifying session where she secured 2nd overall, just missing out on pole position by a minimal margin, Atiqa faced a challenging Pre-Final race, finishing in 6th place.

However, she made a remarkable comeback in the Final race, quickly moving up the field. Despite the intense heat of 39 degrees, Atiqa showcased her calibre as a driver rising three places from her starting line, to have a thrilling third place finish. Such was her pace that she set both the event lap record and a new lap record for the RAK Track L Option layout.

Reflecting on her performance, Atiqa said, “I had the pace to win, so I”m a bit disappointed, but it was a good race and I enjoyed it a lot. I had to adjust to the UAE weather and track conditions after driving in cooler European conditions for the last two months. I have another race in Dubai next weekend, so I will focus on that now. Big thanks to my team for all the support.”

Atiqa is the first and the youngest Indian female driver to win in an FIA International Championship at the age of six years at the IAME Bambino National Day Cup 2021. She is also the first female to be crowned Vice-Champion in the UAE IAME Mini R Championships last season which also makes her the highest ranked female driver under 10 years in the world
