Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief and actor turned politician Thalapathy Vijay has voiced strong objections to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu, warning that over 6.38 crore people could lose their voting rights if the process lacks transparency. In a video message, he questioned the purpose of the SIR exercise, alleging it could turn into a “hidden re-registration.” Vijay emphasised that voting is a fundamental democratic right and urged citizens to get verification acknowledgments from Booth Level Officers. The TVK has also announced plans for a statewide protest on November 16, pending government approval.
