Israeli Forces Arrest Well Known Palestinian Journalist Samer Khuwaira
Israeli soldiers have taken the Palestinian journalist Samer Khwaira into custory after a dawn raid on his home in Nablus, Palestine. An Al-Jazeera report confirmed the incident via a video showing over a dozen of Israeli soldiers taking away the Khwaria.
Samer Ameen Khwaira is known for his work as a correspondent with the Lebanon based Al-Quds Television. He was earlier detained by the Preventive Security Service (PSS) in Nablus in 2009 and kept in custody at Junaid Prison.
The Committee to protect Journalists has reportedly documented 75 such arrests since October 2023. The arrest shows the ongoing tension in the occupied West Bank.

Similar incidents have occured in the past such as in 2020 the Israeli forces arrested journalist Tareq Abu Zeid in Nablus by raiding his house and seizing equipments, indicating a recurring issue of press freedom suppression in Palestine.
People are criticising the Khuwaira’s arrest and accusing Israel of suppressing the freedom of expression.
