Sharjah Royal Dies; Emirate Declares 3 Days of Mourning

The office of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced the passing of Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid bin Muhammad Al Qasimi on Monday, September 22. Following the passing of the royal member, an official three-day mourning has been declared by the emirate.

The funeral prayer will be held on Tuesday, September 23, at 10 am at King Faisal Mosque, Sharjah, followed by the burial ceremony at Al Jabil Cemetery.

Condolences for men will be received at the majlis of Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Muhammed Al Qasim in Al Rumaila, Sharjah, for three days starting Tuesday.

The Ruler’s Court extended its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and to the wider Al Qasimi family, praying to Allah Almighty to bless his soul in eternal peace and grant his family patience and solace.

Notably, in Sharjaha, official mourning is a formal period of respect declared after the death of a prominent leader or royal family member.

During this time, the government, businesses, and residents observe specific customs, including flags at half-mast, public events suspended, business adjustments (closed or operate with reduced hours) and media and public conduct to somber programming.
