After a short respite, gold’s price has jumped further, hitting an all-time high of Rs 1,10400. The fresh spike follows changing geopolitical uncertainties amid US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose fresh tariffs on eight European countries opposed to his proposed takeover of Greenland.

The gold price has been soaring for the past few weeks, following geopolitical uncertainties including the Russia-Ukraine war, Israel’s years-long offensive in Gaza and Iran-US tensions.

With this, precious metals are seen as safer assets to hold in times of uncertainty, and the prices of both gold and silver have soared over the past year.
