OnePlus, a prominent phone brand in China has appointed Robin Liu, former head of sales and chief executive in North America as the Indian business head to lead local operations amid the tumults and recent boycotts from various retailers.
According to Moneycontrol, Samrudh Pai, once positioned as the head of the offline business, left the company and the sales director Ranjeet Singh was headed to lead the online business. Lincle Peng, Who was at the head of Indian operations also left the company’s helm. OnePlus has made an internal reshuffle following the exit of senior Indian executives from the company and adding more Chinese executives to its Indian operations.

The Indian government have already pushed the company to appoint local talents in top roles and the decisions are pending, the company haven’t started working on the initiative due to legal concerns and prolonged scrutiny. However, OnePlus has once again assigned a Chinese executive to lead its Indian operations. After the resignation of Navnit Nakra in 2023, the company hasn’t appointed an Indian executive to lead its local operations in the country.
In 2021, OnePlus merged its operations with another brand Oppo making it a sub-brand and has confronted kerfuffle in the general trade sector. The retail chains in Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh were halted on account of delay in claim processing and other unsettled issues in the year 2023. following these, the boycott sprawled out to many states especially in the northern region of the country having the same reasons.

The company continues to privilege the online stock distributions bypassing the establishment of robust distribution channels, The South Indian Organised Retailers Association (ORA) stated and alleged the company for its ignorance.
