Amit Shah Urges Stalin To Offer Medical, Engineering Education In Tamil
In a row over the ‘imposition of Hindi’ and delimitation exercise in Tamil Nadu, the Union Home Minster Amit Shah urged the DMK leader and CM MK Stalin to impart engineering and medical education in Tamil. While speaking at the 56th Raising Day at the CISF at Thakkolam in Ranipet, Amit Shah ensured that CISF aspirants could write exam in their respective regional languages.
Union Minister said that PM Narendra Modi has ensured the exam will be conducted in Tamil language too.
MK Stalin has been critical of the center for imposing the Hindi language in education as a third language under the National Education Policy (NEP). The assembly elections are due next year in Tamil Nadu, and CM Stalin targeted the BJP government ahead of the polls. Stalin said that those who tried to impose Hindi on Tamil Nadu were defeated in the past or aligned with the DMK. “Tamil Nadu will not tolerate Hindi colonialism replacing British colonialism”, Stalin said.
Stalin has been in a war of words with the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the three language policy in NEP. Pradhan recently said that Tamil Nadu is politicising the language issue and centre is not imposing the Hindi language, rather it is just an optional language.
The central government has withdheld funds under the Samagra Shiksha scheme worth to Rs 2,152 crore till Tamil Nadu implements the NEP and adopt the three language formula. In a letter to PM Narendra Modi the Tamil Nadu CM sought the release of the amount.
