Aspirants Await SC Judgement On NEET PG 2025 Two-Shift Exam Pattern

The NEET PG 2025 exam to be held in two shifts on June 15, 2025, has come under the Supreme Court radar after a petition filed by United Doctors Front (UDF). As per the latest development, Supreme Court has sought responses from NBEMS, NMC and government on two shift exam format.

Aspirants are waiting for the Supreme Court order on the 2-shift exam pattern followed for the medical postgraduate examination. Speculations are emerging about the delay in the NEET PG 2025 exam, however, no official confirmation has come regarding exam postponement or on single shift exam.

UDF has demanded exam be held in a single shift to ensure the same difficulty level for every student and a fair evaluation standard. The plea sought the NEET PG exam 2025 to be conducted in one shift to ensure transparency, uniformity in difficulty levels, and equal standards of evaluation.

The Supreme Court will likely hear the petition in the coming week. Reportedly, if the two-shift pattern is found unfair for the students, it is highly likely that the pattern of the exam will be changed or the exam will be delayed.

Two different shifts involve two different question papers, two different cut-offs, and two levels of competition in a single exam. The single shift exam is allegedly emerging to create a level playing field for every student.

In an earlier judgment on January 29, the Supreme Court also removed the State quota reservation in NEET PG from the next academic session. The domicile based reservation in PG medical cources has been declared as unconstitutional by the higher court. Following the SC order the 50% seats reserved for Local Residents will come under the unreserved seat allotment category.

Notably, the NEET PG 2025 examination is scheduled to be held on June 15, 2025 and the results will likely to be announced by July 15, 2025.
