The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 registration window is closing today, September 26, 2024. Those who wish to appear for the exam can visit the official GATE 2025 website and can do so before it ends. However, the candidate will have another window through late fee submission till October 7, 2024.
The exam for admission to postgraduate engineering programs will be held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. GATE 2025 will be conducted in different cities in 8 zones. The result will be announced on March 19, 2025.
The exam will consist of 30 papers, allowing candidates to select one or two subjects from permissible combinations. The GATE score remains valid for three years from the result announcement date.
GATE 2025: Examination Pattern
The GATE 2025 exam will be conducted in Computer-based test (CBT) mode. The exam will be of 3 hours with sections of General Aptitude (GA) and candidate-selected subjects. The questions are designed to test the application, analysis, comprehension, recall, and synthesis skills of the candidates.
The questions will be of 3 types – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. There will be a negative marking in the exam and for a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3rd mark will be deducted for a wrong answer while for a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted.
There will be 65 questions of total 100 marks with a distribution of 85 marks for subject-related questions and 15 marks for General Aptitude.
GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree program or have completed a degree are eligible to sit for the GATE examination 2025.
The application fee for the female/SC/ST/PwD category is Rs 900 whereas for other categories candidates will need to pay Rs 1800.
