Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) secured first position in India and 40th rank in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024 this year. The result was announced on Wednesday, November 8 by a British Company, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The institute ranked 40th in the last year ranking list too.

As per the ranking list released on their website, IIT Delhi ranks 46 with an overall score of 64.9 which is followed by Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore ranking 52nd and IIT Madras ranking 53rd. Meanwhile IIT Bombay secured an overall score of 67.2 out of 100 ranking 40th in the list. Peiking University of China ranks first with the score of 100.

IIT Bombay has scored 83.5 in academic reputation, 96 in employer reputation, 9.3 in citation per paper, 14.8 in faculty-student ratio, 100 in staff with PhD, 95.7 in papers per faculty, 66.3 international research network, 11.1 in international faculty ratio, 3 in international students ratio, 2.1 in inbound exchange and 4.1 in outbound exchange all scores out of a maximum of 100 points. From the above mentioned indicators, staff with PhD indicated the strongest one for IIT Bombay, as per the statement released.

In the 2024 edition of regional rankings, the institute performed among the top 5% in QS Asia University Rankings 2024. The QS featured 760 Asian universities in which National University of Singapore last year”s number one university ranked second this year.

Published annually since 2009, the QS Asia University Ranking highlights the top universities in Asia each year. The methodology used to rank the universities are as same as that of QS World University rankings but with some additional indicators and adapted weightings. The criteria”s are set after consulting with regional experts and stakeholders. It is designed to reflect key priorities for universities in Asia.
