Sahil Wakoke's Death: Over 10 Protesting IIT-Bombay Students Detained As Parents Seek Professors' Arrest
Mumbai, Maharashtra: Police on Sunday, October 18, arrested at least 10 IIT-Bombay students, who have been protesting on the campus for the last one month over the death of a student identified as Sahil Wakode.
Sahil allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room on September 18. The protesters are demanding accountability from the institute, an independent and transparent investigation. The protesters and the parents of the victim demands the arrest of Professor Suryanarayana Doolla, who is named in the FIR and irector Shireesh Kedare.
Students have been on a relay hunger strike and were holding protests in various forms near the main gate and inside the campus.
