Harry Kane Wins Ballon d’Or 2026
England and Bayern Munich footballer Harry Kane officially reached the absolute pinnacle of world football, claiming the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or at the London Palladium. The striker who had a fantastic season with his club and a resurgent outing with the national squad scoring plenty of goals was predicted to be the Ballon d’Or winner by many.
After a mind-boggling 73-goal campaign for club and country—which also earned him the Gerd Müller Trophy as well this year—the Bayern Munich and England captain finally captured the game’s ultimate individual honour which breaks a 25-year drought for English football. Harry Kane is the fifth Englishman to win the Ballon d’Or, joining Stanley Matthews (1956), Bobby Charlton (1966), Kevin Keegan (1978, 1979), and Michael Owen (2001).
In one of the most tightly contested races in recent memory, Kane edged out Spain’s wonderkid Lamine Yamal—who picked up his third straight Kopa Trophy—and Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé. History made.
