"I Have Equaled My Idol": Mbappe Matches Cristiano Ronaldo's Record In Real Madrid Win
In Saturday’s match against Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé scored his 59th goal across 59 games, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s haul from 2013. With the historic feat for the French national team player, Mbappé called the Portuguese star his hero who helped him settle in.
The player equaled Ronaldo’s record of 59 goals in a calendar year for Real Madrid with a late penalty in his side’s 2-0 home win over Sevilla in LaLiga.

In a video, Mbappé said that the day is special to him. “I have equaled my idol, CRISTIANO RONALDO, the best player of Real Madrid. Today the celebration was for him, for my friend and my idol. He helped me a lot,” the forward attacker stated.
Mbappé had missed several earlier chances before getting his opportunity from the spot four minutes from time, and he made no mistake to net his 59th goal in as many games across all competitions in 2025 to level Ronaldo’s 2013 haul.

Jude Bellingham scored first in the 38th minute at the Bernabeu, putting Real in front in the opening half. Real are second in the LaLiga standings on 42 points, one behind Barcelona who are away to third-placed Villarreal on Sunday, while Sevilla are ninth on 20 points.
