IIT Delhi Tops Indian Institutes In QS Asia Rankings 2026
The global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds have released the 17th edition of the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026. As per the rankings, the University of Hong Kong has grabbed the top position in Asia. Out of the top 10 universities, five are from Hong Kong.
This edition of the rankings is the largest to date, featuring 1,529 universities across 25 higher education systems.
Notably, the representation of Indian universities has also increased to 1,125 percent. India’s representation in the QS Asia rankings has surged from 24 institutes in 2016 to 294 in 2026.

Seven Indian institutes are placed among the top 100, 20 in the top 200, and 66 in the top 500.
IIT Delhi remains India’s highest-ranking institution for the fifth consecutive year, ranking joint 59th. Nineteen Indian universities achieved their highest-ever performance, including Delhi University, JNU, Chandigarh University, BITS Pilani, Shoolini University, and OP Jindal Global University.
