Mallikarjun Kharge Vs Dharmendra Pradhan: War Of Words Over NEET On 'X'

The Indian National Congress leader and party President Mallikarjun Kharge targeted the Narendra Modi government over the NEET exam-related irregularities. Kharge took to social media X and called the denials of NEET-related issues by the central government as ‘Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Daante (the pot calling the Kettle black)

The Congress leader said that the Hon’ble Supreme Court has also admitted that the NEET-UG paper was leaked. It was leaked in Patna and Hazaribagh. He further targeted PM Modi and wrote,”Narendra Modi Ji is almost silent in this whole scam and game of the education mafia. The education mafia under the protection of RSS-BJP has ruined the entire education system”.

While asking the government about the available reports in the media and public, Kharge further added, “We still have 2 questions –

1) Was the paper not leaked in NEET-UG? Weren’t exams like NEET-PG, CSIR-UGC-NET, UGC-NET cancelled/postponed? Weren’t 70 papers leaked in the last 7 years? Was the paper not leaked in 12 out of 66 exams conducted by NTA?

2) Weren’t 1563 students asked to re-appear for NEET-UG due to illegal grace marks? Weren’t 4 lakh students given 5 marks for writing the wrong answer to 1 question, which was caught by the Supreme Court and has now led to a drop in the number of toppers?.

Weren’t malpractices detected in NEET-UG like providing wrong question papers, damaged answer keys, impersonation by students, and analysis of marks showing an unusually high number of toppers?”

Even after demands of scrapping the NEET exam and alleged reported irregularities the councelling procedure is about to start, the Congress leader said, “Despite all this, the Union Education Minister is boasting as if he has won a war! Modi government considers the defeat of students as its victory, what can be more unfortunate than this?”.

Now the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan gave his reaction to the Congress leader’s post. While replying to the Mr. Kharge’s post on the Supreme Court’s founding, Education Minister wrote on X, “On the subject of NEET (UG) exam, the Hon’ble Supreme Court has clearly stated that there has been no systemic breach in the sanctity of the exam. The Hon’ble High Court also reviewed the Data Comparison of 2022, 2023 and 2024 and did not find any discrepancy.”

Upon targeting the Congress government repeated questions over the sanctity of the examiantion to medical colleges, Pradhan said, “Congress does not trust the Government of India, but does it not trust the Honourable High Court?”

He also targeted the then Congress government while question paper were also leaked. “Is Kharge not aware of the paper leaks that happened before the BJP government came to power in Rajasthan? Why did Kharge keep mum on the paper leaks that happened in his government?”, the education minister said.

“Respected Mallikarjun Kharge ji is calling the Congress party the police officer. Congress is the originator of paper leaks and corruption. What can be a bigger irony than calling the originator of corruption the police officer? The people of the country have rejected Congress for the third time in a row. Congress is unable to digest the third consecutive defeat. To make political gains and save its rapidly slipping political ground, Congress has only the support of lies, half truths and anarchy.”, while targeting the Congress party over the corruption cases emerged during its reign, he said.

While supporting the Modi government over following the due procedure he mentioned, “Kharge ji, neither you, nor your leader Rahul Gandhi, nor your party is concerned about the future of students. You are only concerned about your future and the future of one family. The Supreme Court’s decision on the NEET issue is not a defeat of students but a defeat of Congress’s irresponsible attitude, fallacy and petty politics. Zero-error examination is the priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s government”.

He further defended the government by menioning the measures taken upon by the government to enhance the transparency in the exam process. “Steps are being taken continuously for tamper-proof examination. Some examinations were postponed for this reason”, he added.

Education Minister asked the Congress leader to stop tarnishing the government’s image and said,”Postponing the examination means paper leak? Kharge ji, you are a senior leader. Such tampering with facts and truth is a big question mark on your intelligence. Stop tarnishing the image of India’s examination system and playing with the future of students”.
