Satnam Singh Sandhu, Noted Educationist and Social Worker Nominated To The Rajya Sabha
Chandigarh University founder Satnam Singh Sandhu has been nominated to the Upper House of the Parliament. This came to fill the vacancy after the retirement of one of the nominated members, an official circular read.
President Droupadi Murmu in exercise of her duties under the Article 80 of the Constitution of India, nominated Sandhu to the Council of States, says the official release

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to ‘X’ to congratulate Satnam Singh Sandhu for his nomination. “Satnam Ji has distinguished himself as a noted educationist and social worker, who has been serving people at the grassroots in different ways. He has always worked extensively to further national integration and has also worked with the Indian diaspora. I wish him the very best for his Parliamentary journey and am confident the Rajya Sabha proceedings will be enriched by his views.” Wrote PM Modi.
According to the official sources, Satnam Singh Sandhu is one of the India’s leading educationists and son of a farmer. Sandhu founder Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) at Landran in Mohali and Chandigarh University.
“He has been actively involved in community efforts to improve health and wellness of the masses. Working towards communal harmony in the country, he runs 2 NGOs, namely Indian Minorities Foundation and New India Development Foundation”, reports cited.
Notably Sandhu has worked towards domestic national integration and extensive collaboration with the India diaspora living abroad. Personal struggles and hardships during his early life prompted him to work for the education and society. He has remained committed and consistent towards the advancement of the higher education ecosystem in India.
“Sandhu has also won the most coveted and prestigious awards including Academic Excellence Award in Hospitality by Government of India, Business Wizard Award, 2014 and International Leadership Award from Rome University among others”, official information notes.
