Country Will Descend Into Dictatorship If Modi Is Not Defeated: Congress President Kharge

Sasaram, Bihar, May 26: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today warned that in case Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not defeated this time, the country will descend into dictatorship.

Addressing a largely attended public meeting here today, he alleged, Modi was a dictator who did not tolerate any opposition and he was crushing and suppressing the voices raised for the public.

Making a fervent appeal to people to vote for Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), Kharge said, it was important so that the country does not descend into dictatorship against which the alliance partners were fighting unitedly.
He warned against the attempts and intentions of the BJP to change the Constitution, saying it had to be saved. He said, if the Constitution goes, nothing will remain as all the rights people got because of it will go along with it.

The Congress president took strong exception to Modi’s recent remarks made in Bihar about “dance” and “mujra”. He observed, this was an insult to the people of Bihar.
He said, Modi was saying strange things, so much so that he was telling people that the Congress will steal their “mangalsutra” and buffalos.
He pointed out, Prime Minister Modi always talks about irrelevant and meaningless things while conveniently keeping quiet about important issues facing the country like inflation and unemployment.

Alleging that Modi was always abusing the Congress and its leaders and levelling false allegations against the party that it was trying to divide people, the Congress president said, it was other way round. He said, it is the BJP which divides people, while Congress party unites people, citing the example of Rahul Gandhi who walked all the way from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to unite people.

Kharge reaffirmed the guarantees of his party to the people once the INDIA bloc forms the government at the centre.
He specifically mentioned that the free food grains being provided to people will be doubled to ten kgs from the current five kgs. He said, it was actually the Congress which had brought the Right to Food Act in 2013. He said it was Modi’s compulsion to provide free food to people as Congress had made a law for it.
He announced other guarantees including Rs 8,500 monthly cash assistance for the poor, one-year apprenticeship for fresh graduates with a guaranteed income of Rs 1 lakh for that period and waiving off the loans of farmers, besides providing legal guarantee for the MSP of various crops.

The Congress president said the Agnipath scheme will be scrapped. Besides, he said, 30 lakh vacancies in the government departments will be filled up immediately after INDIA bloc comes to power.
