The Election Commission of India (ECI) yesterday rejected a fake message that has been shared on social media platform claiming to be from the commission regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha election schedule.
Clarifying that no dates regarding the schedule of the general election have been announced, the Election Eommission through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle stated that the message that is being shared on WhatsApp “is fake,” suggesting that the message is a fabricated and false meant to mislead people. The fake notice claimed the polling date as April 19, 2024, and the counting of votes as May 22.
The commission, however, further wrote that it would announce the election schedule through a press conference. The commission further asked the citizens to verify before amplifying the messages.
“A fake message is being shared on Whatsapp regarding the schedule for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Fact Check: The message is #Fake. No dates have been announced so far by ECI. Election Schedule is announced by the Commission through a press conference. Verify before you amplify,” the commission wrote.
