In Kasturba Nagar constituency, BJP’s Neeraj Basoya wins with the margin of 11,048 votes. Congress Abhishek Dutt is in second position, and AAP’s Ramesh Pehalwan is trailing behind at third position.
The Kasturba Nagar Assembly constituency lies under the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. The key contesters of the constituency are AAP’s Ramesh Pehalwan, BJP’s Neeraj Basoya, and Congress’ Abhishek Dutt. Pehalwan was earlier a BJP member. He, along with his wife Kusum Lata joined AAP in December, ahead of the election. BJP candidate Basoya was a Congress member before, and joined BJP last year.
During the 2020 Assembly election, AAP candidate Madan Lal won with 37,100 votes. BJP’s Ravinder Chaudhary followed with 33,935 votes and Congress’s Abhishek Dutt with 19,648 votes.
In 2015 Assembly election, Madan Lal secured victory with 50,766 votes, while BJP’s Ravinder Chaudhary garnered 34,870 votes and Congress’s Neeraj Basoya obtained 11,233 votes.
The Assembly election in Delhi was held on February 5, with over 15 million voters casting their ballots across 70 constituencies. A total of 699 candidates, including 96 women, contested the elections.
The triangular contest in the national capital created palpable tension. While AAP and Congress are part of INDIA alliance on national level, the two parties are contesting against each other in Delhi. If BJP won the capital, it would be a huge comeback after 27 years.
