Stepping up the attack on both the centre and Telangana state governments, the Congress today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao are the two sides of a coin. Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal were attending a press meet in Hyderabad ahead of the party’s working committee meeting scheduled from tomorrow.
The first meeting of the newly constituted Congress Working Committee (CWC) will be presided over by the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and attended among others by the former Congress presidents, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and all the CWC members, permanent and special invitees.
Congress general secretary, in charge organisation, KC Venugopal along with the general secretary in charge communications Jairam Ramesh and PCC president Revanth Reddy, said that the CWC meeting will be followed by an ‘extended’ CWC meeting on Sunday, which will be attended by all the PCC presidents and CLP leaders.
Four party Chief Ministers of the party will also be attending the CWC meeting.
Congress will hold a massive rally which, according to Mr Venugopal, “will set the tone for change in Telangana. He said, the CWC meetings have been purposefully scheduled and organised in Hyderabad in view of the ensuing assembly elections being held later this year.
“It was Ms Sonia Gandhi who fulfilled the promise of a separate Telangana state. But Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) turned it into a corrupt state,” he said.
He said, “while at the centre people were suffering at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, similarly in Telangana, people were suffering at the hands of KCR”.
He asserted that not only will the Congress win in Telangana, but all the five states which are going to polls in coming months.
He said, the Congress leaders will reach out to people in all the 115 assembly segments. CWC members, PCC presidents, CLP leaders and others will go to the respective assembly segments and give 6 guarantees to the people of Telangana, besides presenting the chargesheet against the KCR government.
He said, all these guarantees will be fulfilled within one month, the way Congress government fulfilled similar guarantees in Karnataka.
Jairam Ramesh pointed out, the CWC meetings were always held in Delhi and it was for the first time, it was being held for three days outside Delhi.
He said, Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister KCR were the two sides of a same coin.
Quoting the popular local poet Gaddar, he said, about Telangana that there were 1 cr, 2 cr, 3 cr and the KCR, in an apparent reference to the allegations of corruption against KCR government.
