Sangham Vihar Election Result: BJP's Chandan Kumar Choudhary Leads

In Sangam Vihar, BJP candidate Chandan Kumar Choudhary wins the seat with 344 seats. Dinesh Mohaniya, who won the seat for three consecutive times before, came second. Sangam Vihar is one of the 70 Assembly Constituencies of Delhi. Major contestants from the constituency were AAP’s Dinesh Mohaniya, BJP’s Chandhan Kumar Chaudhary, and Congress’ Harsh Chaudhary.

In the 2020 assembly election, Mohaniya won the seat with the margin of 42,522 votes. He won the seat by defeating Janata Dal (United)’s Shiv Charan Gupta, who won 32,823 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Sureah Chaudhary came third with 2,930 votes.

During the 2015 assembly election, Mohaniya won the seat with the margin of 43,988 votes. He won by defeating BJP’s Dr. Shiv Charan Lal Gupta, and Congress’ Vishan Swaroop Agarwal.

Since its first election in 2013, AAP has been ruling the seat. The party was formed in 2012. Mohaniya has won the seat for three consecutive times, but lost the fourth time.

The Assembly election in Delhi was held on February 5, with over 15 million voters casting their ballots across 70 constituencies. A total of 699 candidates, including 96 women, contested the elections.

The triangular contest in the national capital created palpable tension. While AAP and Congress are part of INDIA alliance on national level, the two parties are contesting against each other in Delhi. If BJP won the capital, it would be a huge comeback after 27 years.
