Erandol Election Result: Shiv Sena's Amol Patil Wins

In the Erandol constituency, Amol Patil of the Shiv Sena (Shinde) won the seat defeating Satish Bhaskarrao Patil of the NCP (Sharad Pawar)by a margin of 56,332 votes. Amol is the son of sitting MLA Chimnarao Patil. This time, Chimnarao moved aside and gave his son the opportunity to contest.

Amol Patil currently serves as the Vice President of Jalgaon District Central Bank and was also the chairman of the APMC in Pachora for 13 years. Regarding his candidacy, Amol said: “My advantage is that my father is immensely popular in the constituency and his experience would come handy in the election,” TOI reports, as he is saying.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, Chimnarao Patil won the seat with 82,650 votes. He defeated then-sitting MLA Satish Patil by a margin of 18,002 votes.

The party hopes that the development works undertaken by Patil in the constituency worth crores will prove advantageous to his son in the election. “I am confident that Sena would retain the Erandol seat in the 2024 assembly poll too since Mahayuti government has done wide-spread development works in the state,” the Times of India quotes, as Patil is saying. During the political crisis in 2022, Chimnarao Patil was one of the first group of MLAs supported Chief Minister Eknath Shinde when the latter rebelled against then Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

Satish Patil won from the Erandol-Parola assembly segment in the 2014 elections after his unsuccessful attempt in 2009. Satish secured 55,656 seats, while Chimanrao garnered 53,673 votes. Though he attempted to retain the seat in 2019, he lost it to Chimnarao Patil.

A former minister, Patil handled the ministerial portfolios such as Public Transport, Water Conservation, Earthquake Rehabilitation and Rescue, Sports and Youth Welfare and Women and Child Development. He has also served as the Guardian Minister of the Jalgaon district. He is presently director of the Maharashtra State Co-Operative Housing Federation, Jalgaon and the District Central Co-Operative Bank.

In 2014, Patil unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha election from Jalgaon constituency. He was defeated by BJP candidate AT Nana Patil with a margin of 3,83,525 votes.
