Tamil cinema audiences are in for a rare cinematic pairing as Mareesan, the much-anticipated comedy thriller starring veteran comedian Vadivelu and acclaimed actor Fahadh Faasil, hits theatres tomorrow, 25 July 2025.

Directed by Sudheesh Sankar and backed by Super Good Films, the film marks the 98th venture of the renowned production house and has already generated considerable buzz among cinephiles.

The 2-minute-6-second trailer released earlier in July offers a glimpse into an unconventional journey, featuring Fahadh Faasil accompanying Vadivelu, who portrays an elderly man grappling with Alzheimer’s disease.

As the narrative unfolds, it becomes evident that Fahadh’s character is on a peculiar mission to deceive and ultimately loot the unsuspecting Vadivelu, setting the stage for a darkly comic road adventure, set against the nostalgic backdrop of the classic song “Aaha Inba Nilavinile.”

The film also features Kovai Sarala, reuniting with Vadivelu for another memorable outing, alongside Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, P. L. Thenappan, Livingston, and Renuka in pivotal roles.

With music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and visuals handled by Kalaiselvan Sivaji, Maareesan brings together an unusual narrative blend of humour, mystery, and travel.

The chemistry between the two leads, one known for his impeccable comedic timing and the other for his intensity and versatility, is expected to be a highlight.

Produced by R. B. Choudary under Super Good Films and edited by Sreejith Sarang, the film also marks a long-awaited reunion of Vadivelu and Kovai Sarala on screen, rekindling a beloved comedic duo.

Composed, arranged, and produced by the ever-dependable Yuvan Shankar Raja, the track showcases the vocals of Mathichiyam Bala and the lyrical wit of Madhan Karky.

The song is already being hailed as an instant earworm. Social media is abuzz with admiration, with fans lovingly calling it “a celebration of FAFA”, referring to the dream combo of Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu.
