'Hridayapoorvam' Teaser Out: Mohanlal Charms In Sathyan Anthikad’s Playful Return To Heartfelt Storytelling

The teaser of Hridayapoorvam, the much-anticipated Malayalam family drama directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, has officially dropped, and it’s brimming with warmth, wit, and the unmistakable charm of Mohanlal

Unveiled by Aashirvad Cinemas on July 19, the 1-minute-6-second teaser offers a first glimpse into what promises to be a playfully nostalgic film.

Mohanlal, in a breezy, beardless avatar as Sandeep Balakrishnan, walks through everyday settings with a lightness that feels both endearing and intimate as he effortlessly reminds audiences why his presence still feels like home.

Backed by Justin Prabhakaran’s soul-soaked background score, the teaser doesn’t reveal much plot but hints at a film rooted in emotion, humour, and lived-in relationships.

Every frame shot by cinematographer Anu Moothedath carries the visual warmth that has become a Sathyan Anthikad signature: bustling neighbourhoods, quiet porches, kitchen table conversations, and the joy of life’s small moments.

What elevates this project even further is the creative collaboration behind the scenes. The film marks Anthikad’s first-ever project with both his sons, Akhil Sathyan as the story writer and Anoop Sathyan as associate director, making Hridayapoorvam a generational effort both on and off screen. The screenplay is penned by debutant Sonu T. P., known for his well-received short Night Call.

Joining Mohanlal in the lead are Malavika Mohanan and Sangeeth Prathap, with a robust supporting cast including Sangita Madhavan Nair, Siddique, Baburaj, Lalu Alex, Janardhanan, Sabitha Anand, and S. P. Charan, who makes his Malayalam debut.

Set primarily in Kochi and Pune, the story revolves around ordinary people navigating extraordinary emotional spheres — a hallmark of Anthikad’s cinema.

The film also boasts a historic technical upgrade: for the first time in over 30 years, Mohanlal’s performance will be captured using contemporary sync sound technology, allowing audiences to hear his voice as recorded directly on set, rather than dubbed later in a studio.

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner, Hridayapoorvam marks the 18th collaboration between Mohanlal and Anthikad — a director-actor duo who have previously delivered classics like Rasathanthram, Vinodayathra, and Ennum Eppozhum. The film is slated for a grand theatrical release on August 28, 2025.
