California, US: The 82nd edition of the Annual Golden Globe Award took place on Sunday, January 5. Stand-up Comedian Nikki Glaser helmed the ceremony this year from iconic Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. Despite securing two nominations, India failed to clinch a win.
Though Payal Kapadia became the first filmmaker from India to receive nomination for Best Director for an Indian film, failed to secure a win. Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist secured the Globe for Best Director (Motion Picture) beating Payal Kapadia amongst others. The Best Director category was considered as the highly contested title in the Golden Globes with names including Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Sean Baker (Anora), and Edward Berger (Conclave).

Kapadia’s critically acclaimed film All We Imagine As Light has also received nomination for Best Foreign Film but lost to Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez. The won has also bagged the top award – Best Motion Picture (Musical/ Comedy). Besides, it took home Best Female actor in a Supporting Role (Zoe Saldana), and Best Original Song (“El Mal”).
The Brutalist actor Adrien Brody wins his first Golden Globe as the Best Actor in a Motion Picture and I’m Still Here star Fernanda Torres bagged the award for the Best Actress in a Motion Picture.
Among the TV series Shogun wins big, clinched awards for Best TV Series (Drama), Anna Sawai for Best Actress in a TV Series (Drama), Hiroyuki Sanada for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series (Drama), and Tadanobu Asano for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Supporting Role.

HBO’s Hacks won Best TV Series (Musical/ Comedy) category and Netflix thriller Baby Reindeer wins Best Limited Series/ Anthology. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross bagged Globe for Best Original Score (Motion Picture) for Luca Gaudagnino’s Challengers. Ali Wong’s Ali Wong: Single Lady won Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy or Television.
