As per the reports, Kalpana and her husband have been living in Nizampet for the past five years. On March 3, she had an argument with her daughter, Daya Prasad, regarding her higher education. While Kalpana wanted her daughter to study in Hyderabad, her daughter refused the choice and expressed her unwillingness to relocate. This has contributed to the emotional distress of the singer.
Kalpana, who returned from Ernakulam on March 4, struggled to get sleep despite multiple attempts. Struggling with insomnia, the singer took eight sleeping pills and was still unable to sleep. So, she took another 10 tablets and lost her consciousness.
Her husband became concerned after multiple calls went unanswered. Seeking help, he reached out to members of the Colony Welfare Association, who then alerted the KPHB Police Station. A police team, along with association members, arrived at her residence. When she did not respond, they barged in through the kitchen and found her lying unconscious. She was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. She also assured authorities that no one else was involved.
