L2: Empuraan – Supriya Menon’s Huge Shoutout To Husband Prithviraj Ahead Of Release
As the much-anticipated L2: Empuraan prepares to hit screens worldwide, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s wife, journalist-producer Supriya Menon, has penned a heartfelt tribute to her husband, acknowledging his relentless dedication to the film. With less than 12 hours to go before its release, Supriya reflected on the immense effort behind the project, praising Prithviraj’s leadership in bringing his ambitious vision to life.
Supriya Menon’s Tribute
In a moving social media post, Supriya detailed the painstaking journey that led to L2: Empuraan. She highlighted the exhaustive writing, rewriting, discussions, and rigorous pre-production process that Prithviraj undertook. Filming, which spanned continents, faced numerous challenges, including unpredictable weather, but the team executed the project with precision.
Commending her husband’s persistence, Supriya wrote, “Since we met in 2006, you’ve been telling me about your dream to take Malayalam cinema places, and now we are at that very cusp! Whatever happens tomorrow (27th March), I will always be behind you, cheering and supporting you on as you push forth towards your goals.”

She also addressed critics who doubted Prithviraj’s grand vision, playfully remarking, “To all of those naysayers, I have only one thing to say: ‘Aalarinjyu Kalikyada’!”—a phrase loosely translating to “Watch and learn!”
Expanding the Lucifer Universe
L2: Empuraan, also known as L2E, is the highly awaited sequel to Lucifer, promising to expand the film’s universe with a gripping narrative of geopolitical conflicts, drug cartels, and high-octane action. Led by Mohanlal, the film features an ensemble cast, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, and international stars Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones) and Eriq Ebouaney.
Adding to the excitement, Nikhat Khan Hegde—Aamir Khan’s sister—has been cast as Subhadra Ben, fuelling speculation about a possible cameo by Aamir himself.
A Pan-Indian Spectacle
Backed by Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions, L2: Empuraan boasts a stellar technical team. Deepak Dev’s music and Sujith Vaassudev’s cinematography promise a grand cinematic experience, with the film shot in an expansive 2.8:1 anamorphic format to maintain visual continuity with Lucifer.
The 14-month-long filming schedule, which concluded in December 2024, took the team across diverse locations, from Kerala’s lush landscapes to the rugged terrains of Qaraqosh in Northern Iraq. The film will be released in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, with an additional IMAX format—the first-ever for a Malayalam film—further solidifying its status as a pan-Indian spectacle.
With L2: Empuraan set to take audiences on a thrilling ride, Supriya Menon’s emotional tribute underscores the passion and perseverance behind this ambitious project. As fans eagerly await its release, Prithviraj’s vision for Malayalam cinema seems closer than ever to being realised.
