Debut filmmaker Mithun Balaji directs Stephen and marks the first lead role of Gomathi Shankar, who also co-wrote the film. The story dives deep into themes of guilt, memory, morality, and the strange ways the human mind works.

Talking about playing the lead for the first time, Gomathi Shankar said that the role was challenging but extremely fulfilling. He shared that the character of Stephen is unpredictable and layered, which made the process both exciting and difficult.
