As the trailer for Vikrant Massey’s Sabarmati Report was unveiled yesterday, the actor revealed that he has received several death threats on social media but was not worried as the film is purely based on facts.
Massey’s upcoming release is all set to feature one of the facets of the infamous 2002 Godhra train burning incident. The trailer of the film made heads turn towards the real incident-inspired project. Making parallels to the September 11, 2001, terror attack in New York, Massey considered the Gujarat incident as “our 9/11.”

As the film prepares itself for release, the project is special for the actor, who stated that it might be relevant to the audience as this generation doesn’t know the history of the incident. The Dheeraj Sharma directorial is produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and features Massey as a vernacular journalist who tries to uncover the truth.
Since the film centres around a sensitive topic, the 12th Fail actor revealed that he has been receiving death threats, which the team is still dealing with. Massey said that the film is purely based on facts. Since no one has seen the film yet, he also said that no one could make a preconceived notion that it’s focusing on only one of the facets.

Describing the film as a social commentary, Ektaa Kapoor said that it’s not just one facet, but the first facet. As the film intrigued the audiences to witness how the story ends, the director added that the film tells the genesis of the first facet without undermining others. Kapoor also pointed out that, unfortunately, the aspect of how the incident started had not been reported enough.
Scheduled to be released on November 15, the Hindi drama thriller film also features Raashii Khanna and Riddhi Dogra in lead roles alongside Vikrant Massey.
