AI Meets Motherhood: Dr Kafeel Khan's 24/7 Free Pregnancy Support Platform Grabs The Limelight
Maa, an AI powered project and a voice companion designed to support young and new mothers throughout their pregnancy and early child upbringing is transforming the most challenging period as a beautiful journey.
The project, launched by Dr. Kafeel Khan, a renowned pediatrician with decades of experience in child healthcare, has been making educational videos about infant, child-care. Also a child rights activist, Khafeel Khan has over two million followers on social media – mostly young parents living in rural India. The platform provides 24/7 accessible maternal support and medically accurate guidance at no cost.

Bilal Zaidi describes his conversation with the doctor. He recalls In less than one hour at the dinner, the doctor would have received more than 15 phone calls from new parents with queries about their babies, noting that Khan looked tired and overwhelmed.
Talking about the project, Dr Khafeel Khan says that he wrote a book called Maa, and it was written in English and Hindi, addressing most of the queries that young mothers have.
“But not many young mothers living in rural India may read this book – we both acknowledged. So, together, we decided to build Project Maa,” the doctor said while speaking to Bilal Zaidi.

The Maa is a WhatsApp-based Voice Agent that is cloned on Dr Kafeel Khan’s voice. The project help mothers from the first signs of pregnancy to the early years of childhood. From pregnancy guidance and newborn care to child health and emotional support, the initiative provides experts guidance and direction with medically-accurate information.
The project is trained exclusively on his book – Maa. “We have added adequate guardrails to ensure the voice agent only gives health advice and deflects any medical questions to a doctor near them. And within 4 days of the launch, the voice agent has already received 200+ conversations, ” Zaidi pointed out.
He further underlined that AI revolution will enable problem-solving at a scale that has never been imagined before. “If you have an idea that you have been dabbling with – but don’t know how to build it and take it to the market – let’s work together and make it happen.
